Déclaration de soutien d’organisations israéliennes à la Flottille de la Liberté en partance pour Gaza

Nous, organisations israéliennes, juives et arabes, soutenons très sincèrement la Flottille de la Liberté, prête à prendre la mer vers le Port de Gaza avec le but déclaré de briser par la mer et la terre le siège et le blocus de Gaza, qui est une manifestation de la continuation de l’occupation par Israël.
Nous condamnons la campagne de calomnies que le gouvernement d’Israël agite contre la flottille et contre ceux qui y participent. Il y a une très réelle raison de s’inquiéter que de tels mensonges puissent être tressés par le gouvernement comme un prétexte et une justification par avance de nouveaux actes de violence contre des militants prenant part à une action politique légitime de protestation.
La flottille de Gaza est en effet une action courageuse de protestation politique, l’expression de la solidarité mondiale avec le peuple palestinien et du rejet des pratiques israéliennes d’occupation oppressive, telle qu’elle s’est manifestée par la continuation du siège et du blocus de Gaza et l’imposition d’une punition collective à un grand nombre de civils.
Actuellement la Bande de Gaza n’est guère plus qu’une gigantesque prison à ciel ouvert où un million et demi d’habitants sont retenus, privés de leurs droits fondamentaux. Les Palestiniens de Gaza ont le droit de maintenir un contact direct avec le monde extérieur; ils ont le droit d’ouvrir et de conserver un port maritime où les bateaux puissent librement entrer et partir, pour importer et exporter tous les biens, pour le bénéfice de leur économie et la satisfaction de ses besoins. Les Palestiniens ont tous ces droits -et pas un iota de moins qu’Israël ne les a-. L’Etat d’Israël est obligé, d’après le Droit International, de mettre fin à son contrôle -indirect comme direct- sur la Bande de Gaza, ce qui est une partie des obligations plus larges d’Israël de mettre fin à l’occupation du territoire palestinien et de faciliter l’indépendance de la Palestine.
Nous devons répéter que, contrairement aux déclarations émanant du gouvernement, la flottille agit de façon non-violente en se mettant en route vers Gaza. D’ailleurs, si elle est attaquée par les forces armées israéliennes, c’est par la non-violence que les militants à bord ont l’intention de répondre. Un membre de l’Equipe de Coordination Internationale de la flottille a déclaré précisément et explicitement, quand il répondait aux assertions émanant du système de sécurité en Israël, qu’”il n’y a aucune arme de quelque sorte que ce soit à bord d’aucun de nos navires –ce qui pourrait être confirmé par des dizaines de représentants des médias internationaux présents à bord”. Les militants ayant l’intention de participer à la traversée dans la flottille passent par un entraînement à la non-violence et signent un engagement personnel clair de ne pas avoir recours à la violence.
Le gouvernement d’Israël mène des efforts considérables pour faire que la flottille soit considérée avec crainte et pour décourager les gens d’y participer. De façon à créer une atmosphère de peur sans fondement, des mensonges sont répandus sciemment, des mensonges relatifs à de supposés préparatifs en vue d’une résistance violente , à de prétendus plans pour tuer des soldats et des militants pacifistes participant à la flottille sont accusés d’avoir l’intention d’introduire des armes à Gaza. En même temps il est fait recours à une pression sans précédent sur les journalistes internationaux, de façon à les décourager de couvrir le voyage de la flottille en étant à bord. Il y a des raisons de suspecter que la campagne médiatique en cours, qui a clairement pour but de provoquer la peur et la haine parmi la population israélienne, est destinée à fournir une justification par avance au dénouement dangereux et dur susceptible d’arriver, si les bateaux devaient être pris d’assaut et s’il arrivait malheur à leurs passagers.
Nous condamnons vigoureusement le gouvernement de la Grèce pour sa décision d’empêcher les navires de la flottille de quitter les ports grecs en direction de Gaza. Cette décision est une violation du Droit International relatif à la Liberté des Mers et est hautement déraisonnable. Les reportages dans les journaux israéliens relatifs aux contacts entre les gouvernements d’Israël et de Grèce donnent l’impression que la Grèce a en fait cédé à des pressions politiques d’un genre inacceptable, mises en oeuvre par le gouvernement en Israël.
Nous appelons le Gouvernement de la Grèce à abroger sur le champ son ordre interdisant aux bateaux de la flottille de quitter les ports de Grèce, à les laisser prendre la mer et à assurer la sécurité des passagers de même que des bateaux.
Nous appelons le Gouvernement d’Israël et ses forces armées à laisser les bateaux aller à Gaza livrer pacifiquement leur cargaison de fourniture humanitaires. Nous espérons être témoins de l’arrivée des bateaux à leur destination en sécurité.
Nous appelons le Gouvernement d’Israël à mettre un terme immédiat au siège et au blocus de Gaza.

Israeli Organizations’ Statement of Support for the Gaza-Bound Freedom Flotilla

We, Israeli organizations, Palestinians and Jews, declare our support for the Gaza-bound Freedom Flotilla and its declared goals: to break the Israeli siege on Gaza – both on the sea and land – which represents part of the ongoing Israeli occupation.
We denounce the slanderous campaign of the government of Israel against the flotilla and its participants, and warn against the government’s use of these lies as justification for additional violent actions against the participants of this legitimate political protest.
The flotilla to Gaza is a brave act of political protest, which expresses solidarity with the Palestinian people and the opposition throughout the world to Israeli occupation policies, the ongoing siege on Gaza and the collective punishment of civilians.
Today the Gaza Strip is a massive prison for its 1.5 million residents, for whom basic rights are denied. The right of the Palestinians in Gaza to maintain direct contact with the outside world, their right to open their port, their right to receive and send ships, their right to import and export goods and to develop their economy, precisely as for Israel these rights exist. The state of Israel must end its direct and indirect control over the Gaza Strip, as part of its obligations grounded in international law and to end its occupation regime over the Palestinian Territory and to permit the independence of Palestine.
We emphasise that in contrast to government declarations, the very act of the flotilla is a non-violent one, and in case of an attack by the army the activists are preparing for opposition that is also to be non-violent. In an announcement from one of the members of the international coordinating team of the flotilla, which was issued in response to claims of the security apparatus in Israel, it is explicitly noted that “there are no weapons on any of the ships, and on board all of them are tens of international journalists who can attest to this. The passengers undergo training in non-violence and sign a commitment not to use violence.”
We denounce attempts of the government of Israel to create an atmosphere of fear of the flotilla and to discourage participation in it. The government of Israel wishes to create an unfounded atmosphere of fear through knowingly spreading lies about the so-called preparations for violent resistance to kill soldiers, and the intention of peace activists participating in the flotilla to bring weapons with them to Gaza; in parallel, it is exerting unprecedented pressure on international journalists, lest they join the flotilla in order to cover it. This media campaign, intended to sow fear and hatred in the Israeli public, further arouses suspicion that an additional goal is to justify the harsh and dangerous results which are liable to occur in case of a violent takeover of the ships and harm to their passengers.
We strongly denounce the decision of the government of Greece to bar departure of the vessels from its ports to Gaza. This decision contradicts international laws concerning freedom of navigation, and is tinged with extreme unreasonableness. From reports in the media about the contacts between the governments of Israel and Greece, the impression is received that Greece is succumbing to unacceptable political pressures from the government in Israel.
We call on the Greek government to immediately annul the order prohibiting sailing of the flotilla vessels from its ports and to allow their departure whilst ensuring the safety of the passengers and ships.
We call on Israel’s government and security forces to permit the ships to enter Gaza and unload their humanitarian cargo in peace, and hope the ships arrive safely to their destination.
We call on the government of Israel to immediately end the siege of Gaza.
