Maintenant, 24 membres du Congrès, 27 Tribus et organisations Tribales, et 29 gouvernements d’états,    soumettent des mémoires soutenant le combat de la Tribu Sioux de Standing Rock contre l’oléoduc.

Nous sommes reconnaissants que tant de membres du Congrès, de Tribus et de gouvernements rejoignent la Tribu Sioux de Standing Rock pour dire ‘non’ au DAPL. Ces dirigeants comprennent que la Tribu Sioux de Standing Rock ait le droit de rejeter un oléoduc passant à travers ses terres – Jan Hasselman, Avocat, Earthjustice.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Des membres du Congrès, des Tribus, et des gouvernements d’états, ont remis ce jour des mémoires soutenant la fermeture de l’oléoduc Dakota Access à la Cour d’Appel du Circuit de D.C.

Les mémoires viennent après qu’un juge fédéral ait statué en juillet 2020 que l’oléoduc violait la loi fédérale et ait ordonné sa fermeture en attendant une déclaration d’impact environnemental évaluant les impacts que le DAPL aurait pour la Tribu Sioux de Standing Rock. L’affaire est actuellement en appel devant le tribunal du Circuit de D.C., qui a programmé une audience pour le 4 novembre 2020.

Ce qui suit est une déclaration de Jan Hasselman, l’avocat de Earthjustice, qui représente la Tribu Sioux de Standing Rock dans son combat contre le DAPL:

« Nous sommes reconnaissants que de nombreux membres du Congrès, de Tribus et de gouvernements d’états soient aux côtés de la Tribu Sioux de Standing Rock pour dire ‘non’ au DAPL.
